In conjunction with the Mayors Give-A-Day initiative, Parklands staff and volunteers will conduct a spring cleanup along the southern portion of Floyds Fork stream in Broad Run Park. This is the fifth annual spring Creek Sweep hosted by The Parklands as a part of the Mayor's Give-a-Day Week of Service.
This volunteer event is open to the public and will begin at the Woodland Pavilion in Broad Run Park with a kickoff and welcome from Parklands staff. From there, participants will break into groups and begin paddling the Fork or picking up litter along the streambank.
Volunteers are required to bring their own canoe or kayak if they wish to paddle down the creek. Those without boats will have an opportunity to pick up trash in other areas of Broad Run Park as needed. Life jackets are required for those who plan to participate by boat.
Gloves and garbage bags will be distributed to volunteers at the event. Volunteers should bring a water bottle, dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. All other tools and instruction will be provided on-site.
All participants are encouraged to register for this event, although it is not mandatory, and the event will occur rain or shine. Cancellation will occur in the case of lightning or flooding. Call (502) 584-0350 or e-mail Ali Greenwell at email@example.com with questions. We hope to see you on April 22nd!
