Our Fall Project is no longer one day of community engagement – it is now the start of what we’re calling “The Blue Wave,” where GE Appliances and its employees take over the city on Oct. 8th and make a year-long commitment to transformational change in Louisville. This is the GEA Way!
To kick-off “The Blue Wave,” the Big Four Bridge in downtown Louisville will light up GEA blue on Thursday, October 7th, signaling to the city of Louisville that our employees will take over the community to execute transformational service projects benefiting neighborhoods across Louisville Metro.
This year’s projects will begin at 11 a.m. and range from building outdoor classrooms and play spaces at local schools, transitional homes, and youth residential programs to beautifying our city’s public spaces. All in-person projects will be outside and only vaccinated employees will be eligible to participate, so make sure you’ve uploaded your vaccination card or sign up now to get your vaccine.
Following the completion of the volunteer projects, employees will gather at Louisville Slugger Field at 4:30 p.m. for a celebration highlighting photos and videos from each project location, with food and drinks provided by local minority-owned food truck vendors. We will also check in live with our colleagues placing the final touches on the 2021 GEA Pride float. Employees at Slugger Field will freshen up, change into their GEA Pride t-shirts, and join the Pride Affinity Network for the 2021 Kentuckiana Pride Parade.
Sign up and find out about everything we’re doing for people in the community. Or how you can help us make a difference.
