Metro United Way raised money for Farmers Feeding Families during Giving Tuesday because in Shelby County, the data tells us 11% of our community is food insecure, or don’t have enough food to sustain a healthy life. 15% of our children fall into that category.

To fight for these families Metro United Way in Shelby County started a program called Farmers Feeding Families. The concept is simple: the largest industry in Shelby County is agriculture. Farmers are horrified when you share with them that children in their communities are hungry. Therefore, when we combine the need with the heart we come up with solutions. We are working now to raise awareness and resources to fund solutions to change these statistics.
