The K.E.N. Fund, The King – Elaines’ Nobility Scholarship Fund
We have set up a memorial scholarship fund in KJ Rhodes' name, called The K.E.N. Fund, The King – Elaines’ Nobility Scholarship Fund to honor his life and legacy.
During the COVID pandemic this past year, Metro United Way invested more than $700,000 in emergency support for many nonprofit and school partners in Southern Indiana. While this is significant, there is still so much more to do to ensure all kids and families in Indiana have what they need to thrive.
We address both short-term – COVID relief and recovery – and long-term need in Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties, working to address root causes of issues that negatively affect Hoosiers.
Here are some of the ways we are seeking to help our community be the best it can be:
In partnership with the Southern Indiana Homeless Coalition, this collaborative effort is working to meet housing needs of kids and families in Southern Indiana.
This is the most comprehensive and up-to-date directory of community services available. It’s free, confidential and available 24/7, 365 days per year by simply calling 2-1-1, visiting our 211 page or by texting your zip code to 898211 to access help in real time.Visit 211 Page
This is a community-wide initiative to deploy an innovative, shared technology platform to be used by health, education and human service organizations. It reduces barriers by streamlining navigation
across a multitude of crucial services in our community.
Our signature program in Southern Indiana, it’s provided more than 400 Southern Indiana children in need with a bed to call their own. Through this initiative, each child receives a bed frame, mattress, sheet set, blanket and pillow. We know that a good night’s sleep is important to a child’s academic success!
We use our convening power and influence to advocate for kids and families locally, statewide and at the national level through our own local efforts and in collaboration with our state association, Indiana United Ways, as well as our connection to United Way Worldwide.
Every dollar donated from Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties STAYS IN Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties.
In addition, your dollars could be matched by other generous corporations and foundations that we’re connected to and you can be assured they will be invested back into our community to address the biggest needs facing our neighbors.
Our volunteer leadership works hard with great thought, purpose and strategy to reach recommendations for our community investments so that kids and families in Southern Indiana benefits the most while maximizing all dollars donated and invested.
Metro United Way adheres to stringent standards of accounting and financial reporting for health and human-service organizations.
