Empowering Social Service Providers With Financial Stability

Empowering Social Service Providers With Financial Stability

At Metro United Way, we know that financial stability, along with education and healthy lives, are building blocks to a good quality of life. That's why making sure that families have the resources they need is a priority because when families are stable, our community is stronger.

In our community, we work with partners that help strengthen families through various initiatives, including financial education workshops. Staffs of government and nonprofit organizations that are charged to assist others who struggle financially sometimes need their own personal financial capacity building.

We're proud to partner with Louisville Metro Community Services and FINRA Investor Education Foundation through a partnership with United Way Worldwide to provide a Personal Finance Empowerment Series especially for human service government and nonprofit case managers and front-line staff to achieve the following objectives: (1) Increase financial management knowledge; (2) Promote behavior that advances financial stability; (3) Increase confidence of participants to achieve financial goals.

Qualified staff include those that provide services across the spectrum of health and human services including child development; child welfare; youth development; emergency assistance/basic needs; workforce development; benefits access, physical and mental health; family counseling; senior services; disability services; homelessness and housing; addiction recovery; and immigrant and refugee services.

"Attending the workshops has provided me with the knowledge and confidence I needed to set and achieve financial goals," said John, a recent participant. "As a result, I am now setting aside more money for my children's education beyond high school as well as planning for my own retirement."

By increasing the financial capability of social service providers as a workforce in our community, we have the unique opportunity to implement change on a larger scale.

In our community, we're all interconnected. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when a neighborhood turns around, when families have good health and when workers have solid jobs!
