Tuesday’s Family

Becky & James’ Journey

Becky lives in Louisville with her husband James and their three children. She and her family had missed the filing deadline for the past three tax years and she was beginning to feel overwhelmed just thinking about getting the returns filed.

They had tried to prepare the returns at home on their own, but found that their tax situation was a little bit more complicated than they thought. They were considering saving up to take all of the returns to a paid preparer when a family friend told Becky’s husband about the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, a partnership between Metro United Way and the Louisville Asset Building Coalition.

Becky came in to her VITA appointment in June and was pleased to find that the services were quick, the volunteers were friendly, and that she was getting a refund that could be used to help her family pay some bills. But most of all, she was relieved to have the burden of the tax returns off of her chest.

With your donation, you can help other families just like Becky and James’. Please donate today and help bring these families to financial stability.
