2026 Lifetime Achievement Award
Frank & Paula Harshaw
Frank and Paula Harshaw are longtime champions of our community whose leadership and generosity have made a lasting impact across Greater Louisville. Frank built Harshaw Trane into one of the region’s leading energy service companies, growing it from 13 associates in 1976 to more than 300 employees today. Beyond business, Frank and Paula have dedicated their lives to philanthropy and community leadership. Frank has served on numerous boards, including Eclipse Bank, the Library Foundation, and Sullivan University, and previously with the Louisville Community Foundation and the Greater Louisville Chamber of Commerce. And both are members of the United Way Worldwide Million Dollar Roundtable.
Frank and Paula established the Harshaw Family Foundation in 2012. Together, these foundations have supported children’s initiatives, education, the arts, and human services throughout our region. Inspired by Frank’s own experience growing up in foster care, he also launched a groundbreaking partnership with Metro United Way and local nonprofits to support youth in foster care, an effort recognized by the Kentucky State Legislature. The Harshaws have been instrumental in investing in and moving forward Metro United Way’s United Neighborhoods initiative that is an innovative, place-based approach to create lasting change in under-resourced neighborhoods in our region.
Through their investments, generosity, leadership, and deep commitment to strengthening our community, Frank and Paula Harshaw exemplify a lifelong spirit of service. Congratulations to the Harshaws for being this year’s Metro United Way Lifetime Achievement Award honorees!
