It’s been demonstrated time and again that when parents and children read together, a child’s vocabulary can increase 30 million words by the time they’re four. This ability to communicate, and be communicated to, leads to increased reading proficiency and ultimately higher graduation rates. Reading is fundamental, which is why Metro United Way’s Little Libraries are so important to our target zip codes that would otherwise have little or no access to books.
This month, we want to help restock our nearly 50 Little Libraries. For just a $25 donation, you can pass on the gift of reading and provide up to six new books which parents can use as bedtime stories, and older kids can read on their own.
