Opening the Doors of Opportunity through Financial Stability

Opening the Doors of Opportunity through
Financial Stability

This month, Bank On Louisville, a collaborative effort to strengthen our community's economic well being, celebrates its 5th anniversary!

Through 97 committed partners, including Metro United Way, metro government, financial institutions, schools and universities and faith based organizations, financial stability is becoming a reality for individuals with low-to-moderate income in our community. And when people are financially empowered, doors of opportunity open!

Since its launch, more than 19,000 formerly "unbanked" individuals have entered the financial mainstream by opening checking accounts and starting savings plans. As part of this collaboration, on-going financial education workshops are also offered about saving money, reducing debt, building credit and the pros and cons of credit cards. Last year alone, 403 workshops were conducted!

And in true Louisville fashion, this program is being recognized nationally as an emerging leader in the field of financial empowerment as a member of the Cities for Financial Empowerment Coalition.

At Metro United Way, we know that financial stability, along with education and healthy lives, are building blocks to a good quality of life. We will continue to help individuals get back on their feet and on the road to self-reliance; this is how people in our community will achieve their fullest potential!
