Most everyone knows that in an emergency to call 9-1-1 and the caller on the other end of the phone will dispatch police, fire or medical responders if necessary.

What some may not know is that there is another three digit number to call in non-emergency situations that is a free and confidential service that helps people find the local resources they need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It's 2-1-1.

Every day people across our community turn to 2-1-1 for information and support - whether financial, health or other challenges, often for the first time. It's a confidential referral and information helpline, website and app that connects people of all ages to the essential health and human services they need.

The caller is connected to a resource specialist who can put them in touch with organizations that provide critical services that can improve - and save - lives.

Today we're proud to acknowledge how this partner network of resources supports growing community needs such as educational initiatives (Louisville Linked, Destination Degrees and JCPS summer programs) and infant care (Healthy Babies Louisville).

Through our connection with Jefferson County Public Schools, Louisville Linked allows educators to support students by connecting them to the appropriate resources for academic interventions, securing basic needs and providing physical, mental and emotional healthcare services.

Our newest partnership with the Department of Health & Wellness and the Healthy Babies Louisville coalition focuses on promoting infant health throughout our community. Parents and professionals are now able to call a single number or conduct an online search on the 2-1-1 website and immediately be connected to prenatal and perinatal services, helping to lower infant mortality rates and more by increasing access to prenatal health care.

Over 500,000 individuals in our community have used 2-1-1!
