Help the 15th District Parent Teacher Association (PTA) raise money to provide new shoes for needy students in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS). For more than 40 years, volunteers and donors with the 15th District PTA have provided new and gently used clothing and accessories for JCPS students. During the 2017 Mayor's Give a Day Week of Service we are launching a new fund, From the Ground Up! This fund will solicit community donations to purchase new sneakers and athletic shoes for students, which are a basic needs gap for many students and their families. Each donation of $50 will provide four pairs of shoes to students in kindergarten through high school. The shoes will be distributed by the 15th District PTA's Clothing Assistance Program (CAP), which already provides new uniforms (pants and a shirt), five pairs of socks and underwear, and a belt to JCPS students in need, currently about 10,000 students each year.

This fund would be a great way for a business, organization, place of worship, or an individual to make a big difference in the life of a child. 100 percent of all donations through check will be used to purchase shoes. (Donations through PayPal include a slight processing fee.)

If you want to participate in the Mayor's Give a Day Week of Service, this option offers a way to greatly help children by lifting your finger to a pen and affixing a stamp or clicking our website and donating online. For more information or to request a speaker to explain From the Ground Up! to your group or organization, call CAP at (502) 485-7450 or visit

The Clothing Assistance Program is a partnership between JCPS and 15th District PTA.
We provide clothing to JCPS students and their families in need. Clothing is donated and provided free of charge to those families. Help is always needed sorting, sizing, hanging, organizing our donated clothing. Volunteer hours are Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Other hours can be scheduled.
