Housing Alliance
of Louisville

The Housing Alliance of Louisville (HAL), formerly known as the Eviction Prevention Work Group, is a collective of representatives from over 40 agencies across the Greater Louisville region that work towards addressing the housing crisis in our community through funding, policy, and support of direct service providers. By elevating the work of various local organizations as they work towards housing justice, housing access and stability are increased for all community members.

As with Metro United Way’s housing work, HAL focuses on three areas of housing: houselessness, eviction prevention, and affordable housing.

Core principles that guide our work:
  • 1. Convening and coordinating partners across the housing spectrum

  • 2. Cultivating new and innovative solutions to address longstanding problems

  • 3. Advocating for a policy environment that supports individuals and families in securing and keeping their home

Resources we provide to Louisville community and service providers:
  • Identify needs within the areas of homelessness, eviction prevention, and affordable housing and connect the work of these three pillars
  • Correlate data to prevent evictions, identify trends leading to houselessness
  • Utilize local expertise familiar with the landscape of services within Louisville
  • Examine best practices that have worked in other parts of the country and explore bringing them to Louisville
  • Educate the community on the shared community costs of not addressing the growing housing gap across workforce, education, and healthcare industries
  • Solicit funding that invests in Louisville area renters in a transformational way
  • Embrace innovative approaches to housing that fill gaps in our current infrastructure
  • Advocate for policies that help overcome barriers to housing and increase efforts to become and remain stably housed
  • Mission

We unite diverse voices to reduce evictions, end houselessness, and expand access to affordable housing through coordinated action, innovative solutions, and policy advocacy.

  • Vision

A Louisville where housing is a human right, and every resident has access to safe and affordable housing.

We know that we cannot do this work alone, and we are stronger when we work together. This is why the HAL intentionally makes room at the table for all people to have a voice. The collective experiences of non-profits, faith communities, government agencies, and grassroots groups drives our work so that everyone has access to a safe and stable place to call home.
