Fellowship

In partnership with LMPD, local employers, and health providers, our H.O.P.E. United Fellowship surrounds participants with what they need to rewrite their future: a salary, mental and physical health care, mentorship, educational and job training, life and employability skills, and direct access to employment opportunities. It’s not just a program, it’s a movement to reduce violence, restore trust, and renew hope across our community.

The H.O.P.E. United Fellowship is a bold and compassionate initiative designed to save lives, uplift communities, and unlock the full potential of young Black men in Louisville. Created for individuals ages 18–24 who are at risk of falling victim to gun violence, poverty, or systemic barriers, the fellowship provides a lifeline and new choices.

Why target 18-24 year old Black men?

This population is at disproportionately the highest risk of being impacted by gun violence in Louisville:

  • Youth aged 15-24 account for 30% of homicide victims and 50% of perpetrators
  • 71% victims of homicide are Black males
  • 22% Black youth are either not in school or unemployed
  • The cost of one life lost by homicide in Louisville is roughly $1 million

At the heart of the fellowship is the meaning of H.O.P.E.

    Whole person care that emphasizes physical and mental wellness

  • Opportunity

    Opening new doors through education and career building

  • Prosperity

    Building a life with stability, progress, and potential through a salary of $1,000 per month

  • Empowerment

    Equipping young men with the tools, choices, and confidence to lead themselves

With help from LMPD, we identify young men who are most in need of this intervention and surround them with resources. The fellowship doesn’t just serve individuals, it helps neighborhoods heal. By investing directly in young Black men, we are reducing violence, restoring hope, and redefining what’s possible for the future of our community.
